Flipping through my notes from September this morning, I found this one. Maybe I wrote if for such a time as this: for the college student coming home for Thanksgiving.
The world wants everything you can do. The world wants your best effort on a test, you prettiest face, you slimmest waist, your lowest weight, your biggest muscles, your best voice, your highest following.
God just wants you.
I’ve said to a few cherished people in the past, “I don’t care what we do, I just want to be with you.” I’m learning God says that to me, too, every single day.
I’m really nervous about graduating. But my principal taught me something that will stick with me over the next six weeks—and the rest of my life.
If you supported Trump, this week is hard. Saturday was hard. Each day that goes by without justice is hard. But remember: your reaction to this hardship is what everyone is watching. And since everyone is already paying attention, show them Jesus.
Is anyone else afraid that school will shut down again?
Despite the terrifying possibility, I have THIS hope…
Have hope, beloved. Because all the things you wish you could change are temporary. But your king, Jesus Christ, who loves you more than you can imagine, is forever.
