A Christian Response to Covid

This is what I’ve had to remind myself the last year: I am first a citizen of heaven, and secondly a citizen of the United States. Secondly. That does not mean I completely reject everything my government tells me to do. But when it comes into conflict with my faith, I will always choose to obey God over my government.

I Finished!

Eight days ago, I finished writing the Far Below Human Eyes series. I wrote the last word in the fifth book (yes, there are five), closed my computer, and cried. Then I wrote THIS.

Enough-ness in Your Season

I think it’s normal to wish you were dating someone when you’re single, and I’ve had that feeling before, but that’s not necessarily what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the longing to share Christmas with the one, my future husband, wishing I could meet him sooner. And if you feel the same, I want to encourage you this morning.

First in my Heart

What is the loudest voice in my mind? The voices of my loved ones, praising me every once in a while? Or Jesus’s voice telling me, “You are loved. You are created with purpose. You are saved. You are cherished. You are mine”?

This is My Confidence

When life feels strange; when the holidays look different this year and you’ve never missed your annoying cousins so much; when you just want to hug your grandma but you can’t, be confident that God’s love RULES this.

The World is Watching

If you supported Trump, this week is hard. Saturday was hard. Each day that goes by without justice is hard. But remember: your reaction to this hardship is what everyone is watching. And since everyone is already paying attention, show them Jesus.

Loneliness & Community

We are not created to charge life alone. We are not created to decide what we think the Bible means with our single, flawed perspective. This is a lesson I’ve learned the hard way.

Who is the Gospel For?

If you grew up in church, you had it memorized before you turned seven. If you didn’t, you are still likely quite familiar with the message. But is the gospel only for those who haven’t yet heard the good news?
