Jesus Takes Care of Me

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes:-)

Today, I’d like to do something a little bit different:-)

Recently, I’ve fallen in love with a song by Steffany Gretzinger, called “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus.”

In the last few months, I’ve struggled to remember that I’m taken care of. It’s easy to go to church, remember you are saved, and then go back into your week still stressing out about the homework you have to finish, the shift you took, the practice you have to go to, and the person you must speak with.

Of course, salvation is God’s greatest gift, and it is enough! But sometimes I forget to have an eternal mindset, and mind leaning towards heaven, and I get distracted in the light and momentary troubles of this world. And in those moments, I’ve found it extremely comforting to remember: I am taken care of.

Not just in the grand scheme of things. Not just in an eternal way. But in a daily way. God is taking care of me.

Have you ever stopped and realized that if the God of the universe loved you so much he died for you, he probably cares about your day to day life just as much?

God is intimately aware of all your troubles, no matter how small. He knows when you need to get groceries, when your laundry needs to be folded, how you hate cleaning bathrooms and how you forgot to shovel the driveway that one day. How you’ve been ignoring a certain text and how your bed hasn’t been made in weeks.

And he cares.

Isn’t that phenomenal? That the God of the universe cares about you and your life?

Matthew 6 includes a passage about worrying, but it also sheds light on how much God cares for you. Verse 26 says, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” God doesn’t just save you (although that is still the greatest blessing), but he provides for you. He clothes you and feeds you. He knows what you need.

Still more verses speak into the fact that God cares for you, every part of you, every struggle and weakness and joy and passion. Here are a few:

1 Peter 5:7 ~ “Cast all your anxieties on Him, because he cares for you.”

Isaiah 41:10 ~ “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Psalm 55:22 ~ “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”

God provides. Financially, emotionally, physically, mentally. In the breakfast you ate this morning to the clothes you’re wearing now, he provides for you. He cares for you. And Jesus will continue to take care of you in the upcoming months.

Of course, this is not to say God will give you whatever you want or give you a life of luxury. But it is to say that whatever God gives, it will be enough.

I encourage you to listen to “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus” (at the bottom:-) and follow along with the lyrics. As you listen, try to remember how God has provided for you in the small ways and the big ways. He is your provider and the focus of your life. He is your caretaker when you are weak. He is your everything.

“If my heart could tell a story
If my life would sing a song
If I have a testimony
If I have anything at all

No one ever cared for me like Jesus
His faithful hand has held me all this way
And when I’m old and grey
And all my days are numbered on the earth
Let it be known in you alone
My joy was found
Oh my joy, my joy

Let my children tell their children
Let this be their memory
That all my treasure was in heaven
And you were everything to me

No one ever cared for me like Jesus
His faithful hand has held me all this way
And when I’m old and grey
And all my days are numbered on the earth
Let it be known in you alone
My joy was found
I’ve found my joy

I’m still in love
Your still enough for me
Still all I want
Your still my everything
I’m still in love
Your still enough for me
Still all I want
Your still my everything

No one ever cared for me like Jesus
His faithful hand has held me all this way
And when I’m old and grey
And all my days are numbered on the earth
Let it be known in you alone
My joy was found.”
