Greater

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes:-)

I don’t know about you, but I am completely overwhelmed.

It’s not just the endless responsibilities I have, the deadlines I face, or the countless other things that nag my conscience. A lot of times, I am overwhelmed by issues universal to many people—political chaos, confusion, fear of the future, and grief at the world around us. Whatever it is, it is so easy to become overwhelmed. We don’t belong here.

But God is greater.

Resting in that truth is not blissful ignorance of the reality around us. It fully recognizes the chaos of this world, but chooses to focus on the one who is always in complete control.

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, but God has put it on my heart to do this today. My words are always flawed. No matter how hard I try, I cannot impart to you the peace I have in Christ, the joy I have in his resurrection, the security I have in his arms. So instead of giving you my words today, I’m going to share God’s.

1 Peter 5:6-11

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time.

Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.

Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour.

Resist him, steadfast in your faith, for you know that your brothers and sisters in all the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.

And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you.

To him be the power for ever and ever.

Amen.”

God. Is. Greater.
